This project comprises of square plan beneath a sculptural roof. The roof stretches over a traditional pitched roof profile and bends at the corners to capture sunlight throughout the day and panoramic views of the landscape beyond.
Pockets of external space are carved from the square plan and covered by deep overhangs. These covered porches provide shelter from the elements and an area to leave one's boots after a day on the farm.
Entered from the side, through a deep recessed covered space, a rooflit entrance hall leads to a large open plan kitchen / living / dining space. Here the roof swoops down to create a double height space with floor-to-ceiling glazing, overlooked by a library mezzanine. With glazing on three sides, the space captures sunshine and daylight from morning to evening, and provides dramatic views of the agricultural setting.
